After acquiring the Vivitar 100-300mm lens, my girls and I went for a walk to the park for some sun and gave me a chance a chance to play with it. No where near the sharpest lens I’ve used but it’s a fun lens to play with and the close focus feature is cool [...] Just received this lens in the mail today and immediately went outside and took a few test snaps to see how it compared to the Helios 44-2 (m42) version I used to have. The 44-2 was extremely sharp and a pleasure to use but it just didn’t sit right on my Pentax K10D mount [...] There’s always talk from photographers about back & front focusing problems with their overpriced zoom lenses and how could their camera company which they spend so much money still screw up something like Auto Focusing (AF). I never really paid attention because when those tools were complaining, I was shooting and sniggering with my [...] The following sharpness tests are so un-technical it’s not even worth taking seriously, it was for my own peace of mind. Yesterday I said I was a little disappointed with the softness from the DA* 50-135, well I took a few more photos with different apertures from f/2.8 to f/11. The photos were taken [...] My Pentax DA* 50-135 lens arrived yesterday and I fired off a few test shots to see how it felt. It’s a little heavy sure but straight out of the box wide open it produced some really nice images. HSM auto focusing is super quiet, weird thing was, I had no aperture control and [...] After testing out the Helios 44-2 on my Pentax K10D, I realise now that I made the wrong purchase as I should have bought one of the Helios 44M series. The flange on the 44-2 only runs along the diameter of the M42 adapter, not the flange on mount which causes the lens to [...] After having this lens for a few days, I haven’t had the chance to take a lot of photos with it but a few things I noticed is one, it’s really small (more so than the SMC Takumar 28mm f/3.5) and two, it’s very sharp, even wide open (f/3.5). Here’s some size comparison shots [...] Took some test photos today at the Fukuyama Port area with the Sun Auto Tele-Zoom 85 – 210mm f/4.8 lens I recently bought . All the photos below are from the camera with no image adjustments, all shot in RAW. I wasn’t expecting much from this lens quality wise so the results were expected, [...] I went to two second hand stores where I live in Fukuyama with a gut feeling I was going to find some lenses. One store, which is right below my apartment had a Super Takumar 135mm f/3.5 with hood and caps at a great price for 3,800 yen (about $35.00 USD).
