At the beginning of the year I decided to join the Melbourne University photography Fotoholics club and apart from a guest lecture I hadn’t attended any meetings/functions until last Friday night when a group of about thirty of us went to the Docklands in Melbourne. From 4:30 to 8:30 we walked around, took photos [...] These photos were some leftovers from the family shoot I did back in December ‘09. I must admit I did have an ulterior motive when I asked Naomi to let me test the lighting on her as I’ve wanted to do some natural posed portraits of her since the birth of Elysa, these are [...] Finally got the five of us together to do some family portraits. Lighting was created by an elevated shoot through umbrella with a Vivitar 285HV + Cactus V2s off camera flash triggers (south west of the frame) and a silver reflector (north south of the frame) to pick up the shadows. I’ve been having [...] Just received my RF-602 Wireless flash triggers which are usually Yongnuo branded but mine are HAVE branded, they are for off camera flash and replace my cactus V2s which misfires 60% of the time and that’s on a good day. The RF-602’s have a much stronger frequency than the V2s at 2.4GHz and initial [...] Just before I packed the Lensbaby 2.0 to send to it’s new owner in America, I thought I’d play with it just one last time and what better subject than little Elysa here. Many people comment that the Lensbaby is gimmicky but them be fightin’ words, this is just as good as your normal [...] Taking photos, editing them, exporting them to flickr, adding them to groups and sets in flickr, blogging them, writing about them…fuck me this shit takes some time, hence I haven’t blogged or even posted any photos here or on flickr for a good few weeks. I’m sure you’ll forgive me though as life is [...] Sorry for the lack of updates, things are a little busy at the castle. What I want to know is why didn’t anyone warn me that having a baby would minimize my free time? I thought babies were capable, fully functioning adults but just smaller. She was born on 03-03-09 which is Hinamatsuri (Girls Day in Japan), so it was quite a happy and lucky day for us. Mum and Dad, these photos were taken for you. [...] First some news, I am a father. Mother and baby are well. I’m sure I’ll be posting a few photos of her on this little blog but not right now. This photo is one of the last taken while Naomi was pregnant, although you can’t really tell. It’s much darker and sinister than some [...] Super Takumar 55mm @ f/5.6 with Vivitar 285HV & Lumiquest Softbox III off camera. Naomi here at 37 weeks and desperate for the baby to come out! |
