Momoka – A Photo Shoot

Friends of mine recently had a daughter and in Japan, when the baby turns 100 days old, they have a little ceremony at the local shrine where the baby is blessed and whatever.  Usually mum dresses up in a traditional kimono and dad wears a suit and poor baby is dressed in all weird [...]

Three lenses in a day!

The Jupiter-9, Vivitar 50mm 1.7 & the Soligor 28mm 2.5 all came today and I had a little play with them all.  The Vivitar and the Soligor seem fine for what I paid for them (under $40 USD inc shipping), I’ll do more tests with them over the next few weeks and [...]

Fukuyama Matsuri #4

Pentax M 50 mm 1.7 : f/1.7 (?) : ISO – 560 : Shutter – 1/180

A beautiful woman should always be in focus and luckily, this one is. The reason I cropped the photo square was due to the distracting elements in the background which took away from the young lady and [...]

Fukuyama Matsuri #6

Pentax M 50 mm 1.7 : f/4 (?) : ISO – 400 : Shutter – .7 sec

This is one of the images that even though interesting, I had trouble with taking in focus photos of the issues I mention in the last post. It’s a little more artistic and which makes [...]

Kinosaki – Old School Onsen Town

We stayed in a Ryokan (traditional Japanese hotel) with it’s own private onsen, free tickets to other bigger onsens and dinner/breakfast included. Not bad for $300 AUD for two people.

Australian Trip – Whyalla: Views from Hummock Hill

Here’s some shots taken from Hummock Hill in Whyalla, there’s some interesting views of One Steel, the foreshore and and the old WW2 bunkers. I used the FA 28-105 which was good for long distance wide angle and the M-50 1.7 for in the bunker (low light) and better use of DOF.

Days End

Pentax M 50 mm 1.7 : f/1.7 : ISO – 100 : Shutter – 3.0 (on camera flash)

The last photo I posted I used the on camera flash and it was way over exposed. With this shot, I wrapped tissue around the flash diffusing and spreading [...]

Overexposed?

Pentax M 50 mm 1.7 : f/1.7 : ISO – 100 : Shutter – 3.0 (on camera flash)

Comments – I never use the on camera flash (like most people) but a little experimenting is sometimes fun to see what effects can be created. The photo is somewhat overexposed but [...]
