These are some photos taken at Kurobe Dam, Toyama Prefecture while on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. All taken with the Vivitar VMC 50mm f/1.7 m42 lens on the Pentax K10D. I realised while processing these photos that most of the edges are quite blurry, even at a usually sharp aperture. Second set of photos from Mount Tateyama in Japan. Again, a little dark in spooky looking (maybe I was in a bad mood when I processed the photos) but they do reflect the environment, cold, majestic and haunted. These photos were on the 2nd day at 7am on a cold walk up [...] This first batch of Tateyama photos look pretty bleak, all being monochrome with dead trees and branches, but I think there’s beauty in such darkness and simplicity. The first four shots were taken with the Vivitar VMC 50mm, a lens which I really liked using and the last was taken with the Jupiter-9, a [...] The night before the Mt.Tateyama bus tour I was deliberating what lenses and equipment to take with me because usually I just throw in most of my lenses and end up using only a few of them. The biggest decision I made…no Takumar lenses. That’s right, the trusty Takumar lenses were left behind to [...] The Jupiter-9, Vivitar 50mm 1.7 & the Soligor 28mm 2.5 all came today and I had a little play with them all. The Vivitar and the Soligor seem fine for what I paid for them (under $40 USD inc shipping), I’ll do more tests with them over the next few weeks and [...] I bought two lenses, both m42 screw mount from a Pentaxforums.com member, A Vivitar VMC 50mm 1.7 and a Soligor MC 28mm 2.5. Although I already have a Pentax M 50mm 1.7, it’s not a screw mount and it will interesting to compare the two. If the Vivitar is on par, I’ll probably sell [...] |
