Docklands At Night

At the beginning of the year I decided to join the Melbourne University photography Fotoholics club and apart from a guest lecture I hadn’t attended any meetings/functions until last Friday night when a group of about thirty of us went to the Docklands in Melbourne.  From 4:30 to 8:30 we walked around, took photos of the surrounding area and the fireworks and met new people and overall it was a decent experience though I do prefer shooting alone because nearly everyone’s photos are of the same thing.  99% of the photographers there were Canon/Nikon shooters so I was as usual the odd one out with my Pentax using old manual lenses.  I took the S-M-C Takumar 28mm 3.5 and the Jupiter-9 (85mm 2.0), I mostly used the Takumar as I was shooting landscape and it’s the widest I own in manual.  The images below were taken at sundown where there was just enough light to capture the detail in the clouds but dark enough where I still needed a tripod as I was shooting at f/16.

Nice work. I see you haven’t lost your eye at all. Are living in Melbourne these days. Let me know if you’re having an exhibition or some other such display of work. I’d love to check it out.
